Bertram Benjamin Bloomfield who was killed in action on 21st July 1916 at Fleurbaix in France was the son of Mr. Benjamin James Bloomfield. He was born in 1876 and entered the School in 1891 and left in 1892. After leaving School he was in business in Melbourne, and enlisted on 7th July 1915. He left Melbourne in the following November in the 31st Battalion, and after about seven months in Egypt was sent to France. He had been promoted Corporal, and was doing good work. He lost his life in the first action in which the Australians took part in France.
