Enlisted Neerim South 6 March 1916. Embarked Melbourne per HMAT A38 Ulysses on 25 October 1916. Service – Western Front. Wounded in action 20 September 1917, gunshot wounds to foot and buttocks. Returned to Australia per Nevasa on 25 April 1919. Discharged on 15 June 1919. Age 21, Farmer, single, Church of England. He was 5'5¼" and weighed 145 pounds with a fair complexion, hazel eyes and fair hair. Born at Drouin. Son of Mrs. Sarah Zinner, Neerim South. Awarded the 1914-1918 British War Medal and Allied Victory Medal. On the Crossover State School, Neerim East State School, and Neerim East Honour Boards.
