He was a miner at the Horseshoe Estates Gold Mine at Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. He played football and was a member of the Eaglehawk Rangers, a Militia Corps He enlisted in the army at 1916 and fought at the Somme and at Passchendaele. He was musical, probably played the clarinet and played in the band of the 51st Battalion. Henry was killed in action 12 October 1917 at Passchendaele Belgium Aged 34 years In July 1920 his body was found and buried at Tyne Cot Cemetery XXXV,G,18
