Son of Charles Price, 16 Carlysle Street, Essendon. Awarded the 1914-1918 British War Medal and Allied Victory Medal. On the Warragul State School, and Warragul High School Honour Boards.

PRITCHARD, Leslie Howard

Born: 1887 Armadale, Victoria Parents: Francis Howard Pritchard and Ellen Mary Ann Wilson Enlisted 19 April 1914 at age 27, Roma, Qld. Occupation: Hairdresser Was amongst first to land at Gallipoli and received a head wound on the landing beach. He survived and rejoined his unit 13 June 1915. He suffered chronic dysentery and was invalided hom and discharged 3 January 1916. Leslie wrote "The Kookaburra's Evening Song" which was widely used on postcards sent to soldiers in the trenches. Music and Lyrics are at the Melbourne Museum but can be viewed on line. Leslied died 16 December 1939 at the age of 50 in Prahran and is buried at the Fawkner Cemetery. His brother Percy Wilson Pritchard Service No. 1923 served 17 September 1914-1918 and returned to Australia.

Served on the Western Front Sadly he was killed in action on 8 Apr 1917 in France and is buried Morchies Australian Cemetery (Row B, Grave No. 10), France.
