DYER, Frederick James
Service No: 733 Private 4th Light Horse Regiment
Frederick James Dyer came to Australia as a Butcher aged 19 years aboard the SS Port Macquarie arriving in May 1913.
He enlisted in the AIF on the 13 October 1914, having previously served in the Territorials of North Britian for 6 Months.
Frederick was assigned to Gallipoli as part of the second reinforcement of the AIF 4th Light Horse Regiment. He was medically discharged with heart problems in March 1916. He was found partially fit in April 1917 and re-enlisted. He was later discharged on the 8th April 1919 and was awarded the British War Medal, the 1914/1915 Star and the Victory Medal.
Frederick later resided in Daylesford Victoria and his wife Evelyn Liley Boase (they married in 1917) was given his medals along with the Anzac Commemorative Medal in 1967 some 8 years after his death in 1959
