General Hospital, Gibraltar then Transferred to 3rd London General Hospital Wandsworth, England 25.12.15 Time convalescing/ then light duties at Monte Video Weymouth, Tidworth, Abbey Wood and Perham Downs. 4th Light Horse Regiment split, some remaining in Egypt (Battles of Romani and Beersheba), other members like Jock serving in France with other Units. To France to join Unit on 28 August 1916. Served on the Western Front, Etaples, Rouen with 1st Anzac Light Horse Regiment, 2nd Anzac Corps, NZ Observation Party, Salvage Party 25th Division, then finally with the 45th Battalion. Returned to Australia aboard “ D-30 Prince George” 12 October 1918 - arrived back in Melbourne on 25 December 1918 (Special 1914 Leave provisions) Discharged 23 February 1919 After the War, Jock had the opportunity to retrain as a Hairdresser. But like his brother Charles, took to life as a soldier settler on his farm at Waubranorth-west of Ballarat, Victoria Jock and his brother Charles were instrumental in forming Ballarat R.S.S.I.L.A. Jock was engaged to Annie Lamb of Learmonth (Annie died of TB in 1925) Jock died of TB on 26 February 1929

He went on to live a full life, working as a bank officer, marrying Isabel Maud Hare in 1921, and fathering two children. Harry died in Melbourne on 1 November 1975, aged 79.

Born 12 September 1894, Ararat, Victoria Son of John Thomas Hewson & Bertha Ann Hewson (nee Beer) Occupation prior to Enlistment Banker Enlisted 23 December 1916, Melbourne, Victoria Served in France Thomas embarked from Melbourne on the HMS "Omrah" on 17 January 1917 and, after a short period of training in England, arrived in France on 13 June 1917. He was shot down just three weeks later, whilst on a mission, on 7 July 1917, aged 22. His body was not recovered. Thomas has a memorial at Villers Bretonneux War Cemetery.
